To God Be The Glory.
5. Good, Bad, Ugly by Lecrae
Lecrae is my favorite Christian rapper. The album, “Anomaly” redefined Christian and gospel album. The song, “Good, Bad, Ugly” talks about his past. The verse about child sexual abuse made me look up to him. Lecrae’s used his past not to dwell in it but to move forward and encourage his fans that, “We are not defined by our past. The future look bright, I see the light on.”
4. You Are My King (Amazing Love) by Newsboys
This is definitely a favorite for most Christian music lovers. I heard this song sang by Shane and Shane when I was seventeen years old. Honestly, this song made me really appreciate worship because the lyrics is simple yet powerful. Until today, I still asked, “How can it be that a King would die for me?”
3. Say Something by A Great Big World – Worship Mob Cover
The original is fantastic and moving already but when I heard this rendition from Worship Mob, I fell and cried for days. I heard this song when I was deeply distressed. It was the time when I really think God has abandoned me. I was crying out to Him, and this song truly made an impact in my life. If you watch the video, at the end, the powerful words feel like God is talking to me, “I’ve been watching you child, still learning to love, starting to crawl. And I been waiting here now, will you open your heart, I’ve been here all along. You say that I am not giving up on you. You say that I am running after you. Everywhere I’ve been there with you. Child, I will never give up on you. Child, I have given my all to you. Child, I will never give up on you.”
2. I Dare You to Move by Switchfoot
Thanks to the movie, “A Walk to Remember,” I fell in love with this song. I actually made a human music video with my youth group. Here’s the link: (Myspace Video – you need to sign in to watch the full video). This song impacted my life because it was challenging me to do something. I was tired of being stagnant and complacent with my faith. This song was a wake up song, and it did moved me.
1. Set A Fire by Will Reagan
This is my anthem. This is my song. This is my life. This is my everyday motto. Read the lyrics, it says little but very meaningful and powerful. And, until today, this song still moves me.
So set a fire down in my soul
That I can’t contain and I can’t control
I want more of You God, I want more of You God!There’s no place I’d rather be
There’s no place I’d rather be
There’s no place I’d rather be
Than here in your love, here in your love
Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day!
